About Us

Donating to destitute Cambodian schools

Cambodian Threads is a socially responsible project which offers hand-made, fairly traded silk scarves, produced in a sweat-free environment by a family of artisans from a small Cambodian village. By selling locally made goods to foreign markets, we at Cambodian Threads continually venture to bring artisans and buyers together through a cooperative and fair system of trade. We go directly to the silk artists and pay them a fair price for their goods with consideration to their cost of living. This enables them to improve their own lives while encouraging traditional Cambodian silk art to thrive. Thus, the artists are happy and our customers receive the finest quality hand- made silk products which are traded responsibly.

In addition to practicing fair-trade values, Cambodian Threads seeks to make a positive footprint in the path of education. Cambodian Threads' mission is to give back by donating school material to disadvantaged schoolchildren from selected rural areas in Cambodia. In the current socio-economic climate, Cambodia is a country with great poverty and inequality. Education is a crucial means of breaking the poverty cycle. We believe that access to learning tools such as pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, and other basic material is necessary to promote education. We are trying to help the community that we are based in as a whole. Therefore, a portion of the proceeds from every product sold is donated to disadvantaged schools in the area where the silk is being crafted and other rural Cambodian areas.
